A short update ;)

May 19th, 2009
Hi everyone!
Hope you’re all doing great and enjoying the good weather. Personally I’ve been stuck at school the past few days prepearing for my exams. I can’t wait for this all to be over and get back to everything else that is fun and enjoyable.

Thanks again for all your compliments on my blog and sweet e-mails. I’m sorry I haven’t had the time to answer all of you yet but I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as I get a few minutes to sit down with my laptop.

There’s not much news as of late because of school and everything… I’ve put photographic memory on my wishlist among things like a pair of KIMA jeans and a Balmain jacket… sure would make studying easier and less time consuming.

I am working on some new posts that will be up as soon as I’ve finished my exams. Until then, admire these gorgeous pictures from the Givenchy spring/summer 09 ready to wear collection.

…careful. Don’t drool all over your computer ;)
you can find more pictures from the show here at style.com

Cheers!

Hola!

March 10th, 2009

I’m back from my trip to Gran Canaria. It was such a great trip! The place we stayed at was just beautiful and the weather was perfect. It was a long trip back (6 hours with plane and 5 hours with car) so I’m quite exhausted. I’ll post more pictures from the trip tomorrow.

P.S. Thanks for all your sweet e-mails. I’ll answer them ASAP, promise! <3

I got a really nice surprise today!

A little bit of everything

February 25th, 2009

I had to get up at 8 a clock this morning because I had to practice my driving… after the lesson I went home and was supposed to get some school work done but instead I fell asleep and woke up *looks at watch* about half an hour ago. I can’t think straight right now so todays post is a bit of everything… and nothing… and well, oh lets just move on…

Before I went home and fell asleep after my driving lesson I managed to get some shopping done. It was so early (too early) and I bet I was the first customer in all the different stores I went to. Like usual I ended up at Gina Tricot where I found a few pieces I’ve been meaning to try out for a while. I found the bubble skirt with pink flowers and the waist belt I wanted so I (surprise, surprise) bought them. I also picked up a flower vest from Only and the first season of MAD MEN (which is addictive btw). The shoes I ordered (1, 2) from Laredoute arrived as well and I’m reeeeally happy with them ;)

Today I also, for some strange reason, decided to breath life back to my old dusty chictopia account. You can visit it if you like and… errrrr…. take a look at my five pictures… or was it four? I’m not quite sure. Anyway, while I was lurking around the community I found Kora’s chicblog. I really like her style, very inspiering photos! I swear this girl will end up at the cover of ELLE or something someday… I think she should anyway! ;) Here are some of my favourite pictures from her gallery.

And well, that’s it. Oh, look at the time… I’ll have to go to bed again soon…

1. RAG & BONE SPRING/SUMMER 2009 (pictures: style.com)
I really like Rag & Bone’s spring/summer 2009 collection. The shoes are devine and the jackets look really cool. I wish I could afford the real thing but for now I’ll have to look for a good “original copy” from the high street stores ;)

2. VIPS SPRING/SUMMER 09 PURSE COLLECTION (pictures: VIPS)
If you’ve read my blog before you already know I’m a huge fan of the Norwegian accessory brand VIPS. The colours and theme of thir new collection is so sweet. This is what it says about it on their website:
“Olga the ballerina - designed by Helene Westbye
Olga the ballerina was born in a village far, far out in the countryside. Her father was a dwarf and her mother was a legendary lion tamer. She discovered at a young age that she, just like her parents, had a special gift. While riding her favorite one wheel cycle one morning to school, she found out that she had the ability to juggle flying objects. With her early love for handbags and fetish for leather she became the worlds first flying handbag performer.
These days, Olga is touring the world with her spectacular show; “Olga The Ballerina And The Flying Purses”.
She wakes up every morning enjoying her morning coffee, hanging upside down from her clothesline. One of her favorite pastimes and one of the best parts of her show Is being shoot out of a canon wearing high heels, while simultaneously juggling a purse and putting on lipstick.”

3. LA GARCONNE PRE-SPRING ENSEMBLES (pictures: LA GARCONNE)
Very inspiering outfits. I love how they put everything together. I especially like the blue pants and top with those shoes. The trench coat is fabolous too!

Glam & Tonic Is Back!

February 21st, 2009

Hi everyone!

I decided to take a break from blogging March 2008 but now I’m back with a new and improved version of Glam & Tonic… yay! The reason why I decided to take a break in the first place was because so much was going on in my life and I ‘didn’t have time’ for blogging. But during my break from the blogosphere I’ve realized how much I love blogging… and how much I miss it! I’m so grateful for all the nice e-mails I’ve received from many of you during my break and its great fun to see that people still comment on my old blog even though it hasn’t been updated in aaaages. Well, now you’ll have something new to comment on! ;) Bellow you can find some of the posts I’ve been working on lately, enjoy!

Cheers!
Camilla

P.S. I’m updating my link list so if you have a blog please comment on this post and leave a link so I can visit it

PRODUCT TESTING: In Search Of the Perfect Mascara

February 20th, 2009

I’ve always envied girls who have perfect long dark lashes. How nice it must be to look great without having to put on endless amounts of mascara. Unfortunatley I’m not one of those girls. When I leave home without mascara on I look pale and tired. My friends and the people I work with comment on it too and “hope I feel better soon”. In other words I’m extremely dependent of my mascara. However I’m yet to discover the perfect mascara. When I buy a new one there’s always something wrong with it. That’s why I decided to run a test on the different mascaras I’ve been thinking of trying out lately.

DIORSHOW BLACKOUT MASCARA

Apperance: The apperance of this mascara is rather dull. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve already heard a lot of good things about it from friends and other people around me I would never feel tempted to buy this mascara just by looking at it. The only thing I like about the packaging is the dominating black colour which appeals to me because I want dark intense lashes.
Brush: Widely spaced bristles brush. Looks big and promising, but unfortunatley it doesn’t live up to the expectations…
Application: It’s easy to hold and apply the mascara the way you want. The brush holds too much mascara though and you are left with heavy wet lashes that mess up the rest of your make-up. It’s also hard to apply more than one layer because you easily get spider lashes.
Hold: If you’re lucky and manage to get a quite decent result with this mascara you won’t go long before it’s suddenly on your cheeks. I thought “this doesn’t look so bad” but after a few hours I looked in a mirror and suddenly saw my own reflection resembling something that looked like a panda bear. I got my friend to try it out too and she didn’t have much positive to say about the hold of this mascara either.

GUERLAIN ‘LE 2 DE GUERLAIN’ MASCARA

Apperance: Excuisite! The apperance of this mascara was actually the reason why I decided to try it out in the first place. The packaging has an unusual shape and shiny gold colour which gives you the impression that this is a inovative and luxurious beauty product you simply have to add to your make-up kit ASAP.
Brush: This mascara has two brushes. The first brush transforms the eyelashes with a single stroke, fills them out, lengthens, curves and separates them. The second brush is to reach the “tricky” smaller eyelashes and make them up easily without smudges or mistakes.
Application: It’s very easy to apply and you reach every single lash. The only minus is that the shape of the brush handle is a bit unusual so it might be a bit awkward to hold it at first… but it makes up for it with the fantastic design.
Hold: Very good. It doesn’t smuge and the mascara will stay on your lashes (not cheeks) all day. Easy to remove with cleanensing wipes.

MAXFACTOR FALSE LASH EFFECT MASCARA

Apperance: Looks like a cheap mascara. The packaging is black and the text is rather small. I quite like it’s big round shape though. The plastic brush has a bright purple colour but it’s covered with mascara so you only see this in the commertials. In a way I’ve always believed the myth saying that any mascara that needs advertising is a bad mascara, but I decided to snap out of it and give this mascara a go…
Brush: The brush. Well, it’s purple (I don’t understand why I have to make such a big deal out of this?!)… Other than that it’s quite large and round. Easy to use and separates lashes.
Application: Easy to apply and the result is quite good. No messy make-up.
Hold: Well, it’s quuuuite good. Unfortunatley it’s a little dry so after a while the mascara wears off, but it’s easy to remove if you get it in your face.

MAYBELLINE COLOSSAL VOLUME EXPRESS MASCARA

Apperance: Frightening, to be honest. The packaging is a bright yellow with bold purple writing on it. In one way the apperance of this mascara is quite cheap and flashy but this is also the reason why you notice it and want to try it out.
Brush: In general I’m fond of Maybelline’s brushes, so if you’re like me you’ll deffinently like this one. It’s BIG and EFFECTIVE.
Application: “Colosal volume -in just one coat. No clumps.” it says on the back of the mascara…. and it. It’s easy to apply and you get a really good result. You can reach
Hold: I hate it when mascaras are too dry or the other way around -luckily this one is just perfect. It lasts all day and is easy to remove at night.

Now after trying out all these mascaras the one I prefer (and recommend) is Maybelline’s Colossal volume express. This neon wonder will spice up your make-up kit and give you long laches that last all day. The price is agreeable as well! Also, a quick question: do you have a favourite mascara and why do you love it?
